1. Still afternoon on the Delaware-Raritan Canal in Somerset, N.J. 2. Sandy Hook Bay viewed from Scenic Drive, Atlantic Highlands, N.J. The Verrazano Narrows Bridge and the World Trade Center are barely visible in the distance. 3. A friend took this picture of me in Yosemite National Park. We have no idea where the green light came from. Perhaps it's my aura. 4. Giant Sequoia in the Mariposa Grove in Yosemite National Park. 5. Yosemite Valley. After one enters Yosemite National Park they drive on the park road through routinely beautiful scenery for several miles, eventually entering the Wawona Tunnel. When one drives out of the tunnel they are suddenly confronted with with the spectacle of Yosemite Valley. With its fabled peaks like El Capitan and Half Dome and its high, plunging waterfalls streaming downward it is possibly the most breathtakingly beautiful view in America. Perhaps only one's first view of the Grand Canyon can rival it. |
